Funding to publish in open access

When a researcher wants to publish an article in open access, they may encounter different situations depending on the publisher. Some journals do not charge authors any fee for publishing, but in many cases publishers apply a fee to offer the article in open access. This cost associated with open publishing is called the Article Processing Charge (APC). The Universitat Ramon Llull has agreements in place with several publishers to assume the cost of the APC, called transformative agreements. 

If you are part of the research staff of the URL or you are a PhD student, you can apply for a transformative agreement APC. To do this, you need to contact your Library and find out about the specific procedure you must follow. Please note that each school has a limited number of APCs.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Be a Teaching Staff, Researcher or PhD student at the URL.
  • Be the corresponding author of the article.
  • Use the institutional email address to sign.
  • Correctly indicate the institutional affiliation to the Ramon Llull University.
  • Have the ORCID identifier.

Remember that it is essential to correctly indicate your institutional affiliation in all publications. This allows the University to identify the scientific production of its teaching and research staff and improve their visibility in evaluation processes and in national and international rankings.

Correct and consensual way of stating affiliation to the Universitat Ramon Llull:

Universitat Ramon Llull, Centre, Department or Research Group, Postal Address

Keep in mind that Universitat Ramon Llull is not translated, it always remains in Catalan, and in first position.
