La Salle-URL researchers participate in #100tífiques to make visible the role of women scientists
Wednesday, February 8, 2023. In the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is celebrated on February 11, #100tífiques returns, an initiative that makes visible the role of women scientists in the world of teaching, research and company. In this fifth edition, La Salle-URL once again participates with talks by three researchers: Rosa Maria Alsina, Míriam Calvo and Núria Valls.
The participating women scientists will share the keys to what they do with schoolchildren from all over Catalonia, explaining their work as women who dedicate themselves to science from their fields and sectors. The meetings with the students will serve to bring them closer to the daily reality of the scientists. Thus, schoolchildren will be able to understand and identify good practices, recognizing the importance of scientific and technological professions.
The objective of the initiative is to highlight the strategic role of women scientists, both in academia and in business, and to identify good practices that lead to gender equality in the sector. At the same time, collaborative research and the overcoming of stereotypes around science are promoted. #100tífiques is organized by the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI) and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), with the collaboration of the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
