The European Space Agency is funding the Ebro Observatory-URL to quantify the water used in irrigated areas using satellite data
Friday, 26 June 2020. On March 13, the IRRIGATION+ project kick off meeting was took place. The project is funded by the European Space Agency with the aim of quantifying irrigation from space. The Ebro Observatory participates by contributing its knowledge in the quantification of irrigation using surface soil moisture data, in the modeling of the continental water cycle and by liaising with users in the irrigated areas of the Ebro basin, which will be one of the pilot areas.
The project will run for two years, is led by the Italian National Research Center (CNR) and involves research centers and companies from Austria, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
