Ramon Llull ranked in Europe’s top 100 of best teaching universities according to Times Higher Education
Friday, July 5, 2019 . Ramon Llull University (URL) has been ranked 76-100 of best European universities in teaching according to the Europe Teaching Ranking elaborated by the prestigious Times Higher Education. With these results, the URL is one of the 5 universities in the Catalan university system placed in the Top 100.
This classification, which this year reaches the second edition, is the first one focused exclusively on teaching. The ranking uses a balanced scorecard approach, with 14 individual performance indicators grouped into 4 key areas: commitment and interaction between the university and students; resources for effective teaching; the university’s outcomes; and the existence of an inclusive environment.
In relation to the key area of the existence of an inclusive environment, the URL is the 3rd best university in Europe. In this area, 4 indicators are considered: gender balance of academic staff, gender balance of students, Proportion of international students, and Erasmus+ student mobility.
The URL also stands out in the Engagement key area, where it ranks as the 8th best European university. This area takes into account 4 indicators: student engagement, student interaction, student recommendation, and links to labour market.
Half of the ranking indicators are obtained from the European Student Survey: a survey aimed at more than 125,000 university students from 18 European countries. The aim is to know deeply important issues for students, such as students’ engagement with their studies, interaction with teachers, opportunities to develop skills and views on the quality of services at their institution.
The others indicators are obtained from direct submissions from institutions to Times Higher Education, the THE Academic Reputation Survey, and Elsevier’s bibliometric dataset.
