The ETHOS URL Chair magazine is now part of one of the most important scientific databases in the world
In just five years, the Ramon Llull Journal of Applied Ethics has found its way onto 20 international indices
Tuesday 27 April 2015. Ramon Llull Journal of Applied Ethics, the academic journal specialising in applied ethics drawn up annually by the Ramon Llull University (URL) Ethos Chair and published by the prestigious German publisher Herder, has been indexed in SCOPUS, a bibliographic database of peer-reviewed abstracts and citations of scientific papers, with 18,000 titles from more than 5,000 international publishers, in the fields of science, technology, medicine and social sciences.
Ramon Llull Journal of Applied Ethics was created in 2010 by important figures from the ethics field, as the first academic journal specialising in applied ethics to foster international dialogue, and this year has reached its fifth edition. The magazine, published entirely in English, was created with the firm intention of internationalising Catalan and Spanish thinking and is therefore distributed in the main centres of thought and libraries around the world.
Up till now the Journal has been included in important indices such as Carhus+, Latindex, CASPUR, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), DOAJ, EBSCO Publishing's Electronic Databases, Health & Wellness Research Center, Health Reference Center Academic, Hinari, Index Copernicus, National Science Library, OpenJGate, PrimoCentral, ProQuest, SCOLOAR, SIIC databases, Summon by Serial Solutions and Ulrich's International Periodical Directory.
In early November the magazine was included in the American The Philosopher's Index, defined as "the top bibliographic database covering worldwide research in all areas of philosophy". Finally, this April it was included in SCOPUS, "the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature", according to its website.
As this publication aims to be a tool for knowledge transfer and global dialogue, it has had a digital version from the outset, through which all the items can be seen online.
The ETHOS URL Chair is Ramon Llull University's chair of applied ethics for the department of applied ethics, from which it offers support to all the URL's research groups in applied ethics. The priority lines of research and work are: ethics of organisations, professions and the media; bioethics; corporate social responsibility; educational strategies for ethical disclosure. The ETHOS URL Chair aims to promote studies in Applied Ethics, both in the university and professional organisational environments. The Department is working to implement key ethical values in various organisational and decision-making practices.
