Mar Vila appointed Vice-Rector for International Relations and Students at URL

Tuesday, 1 September 2026. Professor Mar Vila Fernández-Santacruz from Esade-URL has joined the Rector's Team of Ramon Llull University (URL) as Vice-Rector for International Relations and Students. Prof. Vila, who has served as Vice Dean of Faculty at Esade-URL and holds a PhD in Business Administration and Management from URL, takes over from Dr. Carlo M. Gallucci Calabrese, who had held this position since January 2013. The university's Board of Trustees approved Dr. Mar Vila's appointment at its meeting held on 31 August 2026.

BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE OF MAR VILA

Born in Barcelona in 1970, Mar Vila earned a degree in Business Sciences from Esade Business School in 1992 and a degree in Business Administration and Management from Esade Business School and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 1996. In 2004, she obtained a PhD in Business Administration and Management from Esade-URL. 

Prof. Vila is Full Professor at Esade-URL and Professor at Ramon Llull University. After ten years of professional experience, she joined Esade-URL in 2001. Since then, she has developed an extensive academic career in teaching and research, focusing primarily on accounting and sustainable tourism management. Academic management has played a particularly significant role throughout her career. Notably, she served two terms as Director of the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting and, since 2022, has held the position of Vice Dean of Faculty. In this role, she has promoted initiatives related to talent recruitment, faculty internationalisation and teaching innovation, among many others.
