International conflicts and confrontations are challenging Europe at an intensity unknown in recent decades. With the war in Ukraine, ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and, most recently, the policies of the new U.S. administration, the term "geopolitics" has become increasingly relevant in public discourse. It refers to the impact of geographical factors on power relations between states. Globally, these disruptions are affecting export economies, energy prices, and security.

Europe and the EU must redefine their strategic role within this new geopolitical dynamic and adapt their internal processes accordingly. At the same time, new opportunities in terms of trade relations and foreign policy alliances are opening up that Europe cannot afford to miss. But what do these developments mean in concrete terms for Europe?

Three experts will contribute their insights and invite discussion. On the occasion of the upcoming Europe Day, they will examine the risks facing Europe from political, sustainability, and legal perspectives and discuss how we can leverage and strengthen the cohesion of the European Union. The event will be moderated by Sabine Sainte-Rose, ENGAGE.EU Secretary General.
