EsadeEcPol and EsadeGov are organizing this event on Affordable Housing, in the framework of The EU Week, a yearly opportunity to bring Europe closer to its citizens.

The event will focus on how to remove the key bottlenecks that prevent European cities from mobilizing affordable housing at the scale the crisis demands. In the context of the European Commission's first-ever Affordable Housing Plan and the upcoming EU Housing Summit, panelists will discuss where EU institutions can most effectively add value: from unlocking planning and permitting processes, to channeling investment through the EIB and mixed-capital platforms, to industrializing construction to bring costs down. Drawing on the latest evidence from both academic research and on-the-ground policy experience in cities like Barcelona, the conversation will explore what works when translating European-level ambitions into concrete local results for the people most affected.
