URL patents

One of Ramon Llull University’s objectives is to raise awareness among the university community about the importance of protecting the knowledge created at the university. For this reason, URL encourages its research groups to protect their inventions through different intellectual property mechanisms. Patents, albeit intangible, are objects of property, which permit their titleholders to transfer technologies to other entities while partially recovering the investments dedicated to their research.

URL approved its norms governing patents in 2006. Patent applications detail two titleholders, the individual institution and URL as a whole, though the institution has all exploitation rights from the moment the application is presented on. However, the university reserves the right to inform about or publish the patent applications and grants. While there are funds for this aim, any expenses stemming from the joint patent application are financed by the URL Rector’s Office

Like the other research publications, GREC-URL details patent applications by research groups.
