Welcome to Ramon Llull University!


Based in Barcelona and established in 1990 as a non-profit making University, the aim of the URL is to provide a quality education, focussed on the person, that provides answers to the needs of the society.

High-quality, people-centred training
With 46 qualifications, the URL promotes not only the intellectual education but also the personal growth, and is one of the most innovating and pioneering universities within the spanish state.

Using its own methodology that makes full use of the students' skills, it prepares the professionals of the future in small working groups, encouraging a close working relationship between students and teaching staff, promoting comprehensive training in each field of knowledge and fostering a mastery of the new technologies.

A federation of university institutes
The success of the URL, which is formed by 11 prestigious federated institutions with a long tradition in higher education in Catalonia, lies in the quality of teaching -based in the strengthening of the aptitudes of the person-, the reduced working groups and the close relationship between the students and the teaching staff.

To achieve this, the URL has in its centres the best and most modern equipment and has signed agreements with more than 4.000 companies from different sectors in order that the students can carry out professional training. In the same way, the centres offer all necessary infrastructures to complement the education of the students: libraries, laboratories, languages services, computer rooms and audio-visual and multimedia classrooms, among others.

Opened to other cultures and to a more and more globalized world, Ramon Llull University considers the relationships and the international training a very important aspect. In this sense, it maintains agreements with networks and institutions of great notoriety which facilitate mobility and allow a continued exchange of students and professors worldwide.

The URL is a part of the European Higher Education Area
From the academic year 2005-06 onwards, all the subject courses are taught with credits of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) using methodology derived from the Bologna Declaration, a methodology which provides a university training focused on student learning, closely following the traditional approach of the centres of the URL.

In the academic year 2006-07 the URL started teaching the Official Postgraduate Programmes (OPP), providing a varied, complete and specialised offer of Masters degrees valid in the European university context, and making it easier to continue with current studies.

From the academic year 2008-09 the URL will offer part of its degree studies already adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). These qualifications are currently being verified in line with Royal Decree 1393/2007 of 29 October 2007.

Adaptation to the EHEA will finalise in the academic year 2010-2011 with the implementation of all qualifications adapted to this new framework.

A t Ramon Llull University we are conscious that we educate the professionals of the society of the future and, to the commitment which this involves, we work in scientific and high level research and promote a spirit of innovation and creativity.
