The Pere Tarrés Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that started out teaching leisure to infants and children and has progressively spread its teaching services to lifelong learning for people, culture and developing the community. The Pere Tarrés University Schools of Social Work and Education have consolidated their position as a touchstone for social action training, with its ongoing connections with the professional world.

The centre comprises two university schools that train professionals dedicated to fostering the full development of both people and communities through social and educational involvement. The students play an active leading role in their learning process which is fed by the best parts of the two traditions of the centre. The teaching tradition provides special care for the working methodologies and a climate of social relations. The tradition of social action provides an in-depth knowledge of the social network and the processes involved in building up the quality of life of all. The hallmarks of the training provided are commitment in the struggle to build a more just society and the capacity to develop skills and strategies leading to the improvement in the life of people communities, especially the most vulnerable.
