This institution is a pioneer in Europe in the study of bioethics. It analyses and reflects upon the ethical problems raised by biomedical advances. It provides specialised training for workers in the Health Sciences and other disciplines with its postgraduate and masters courses, while fostering an interdisciplinary dialogue among scientists and humanists. The Borja Bioethics Institute encourages research and advice to ethics committees in hospitals, working in different forums such as the Bioethics Committee of Catalonia.
